CONNECTOR REFLECTIONS

One day I was reminiscing of the Carrot band days and of some of the tunes we played that never ended up on a recording. I thought it would be fun to record them and started thinking of different musicians I knew who might be willing to do some studio work for a beer or two. My first call was to Tim Lamberson, the mainstay drummer in the 24 Carrot Band and my partner in Root 24. He was willing to take the time and we hooked up in February 2001 and recorded 13 songs with Acoustic Guitar and Drums. I laid down some scratch vocals and the Connector Project was underway.

Next up was some Bass. Terry Schneider - the local Music Guy - dropped some great lines into the mix on several tunes. I also called on the talents of Jon Rose for some Fretless Bass and some of his awesome sounding Chapman Stick Bass for the remainder. Jon also added his tasty keyboard stylings on 11 tunes.

I then began to session lead guitar tracks with Brett Groh and Thom Warren. Only then did I discover that Terry Schneider also played guitar and he was gracious enough to add some leads. Things were beginning to gel! Still it seemed, there was a lot of work to do. I wanted some sax and maybe other horns for a section and began placing calls, unanswered.

In the meantime, I cleaned up all the recorded tracks and brought in Jim Geisler to add some Conga parts on a couple of tunes. A bit later, Marilyn Lamberson provided some rhythm edge with her electric guitar on several tunes.

After a while I realized the horn players were never going to show so I cut my final vocal tracks over the scratch parts and had Tim come back to fill in his harmonies.

There were still a few loose ends and I was able to hook up with Terry Schneider again for some more lead guitar to finish off some tunes in June 2003, more than 2 years after he played his first bass line on the project.

Following that last recording session, Tim and I spent several evenings mixing and re-mixing and finally decided we were there on July 3, 2003. Connector is the result. Hope you Enjoy.
