CONSIDERING

Old woman walking dead leaf in hand
Like it was a lost love, found again
I can see it, the wonder in her eyes

Simple pleasures in difficult times
It's no wonder that she came this far
in her life, considering
All the times she's lived through
and everything she's seen
And as I watched her walk on by
I found myself just wondering

How many people
keep that spark in their eye
Until the day
when they finally fly away
Far away

I've had the fortune to know a few
And the lessons they taught me
still ring true you see
they touched a part of me
They will never even know
What they stirred in me

Now I lay awake
dreaming that I'm going to fly
Like a leaf in the wind
or the gleam in an old womans eye
And touch another creature here
