PLEDGING ALLEGIANCE

Markets are down, people are scared,
None of them has ever fared this bad before
Most of them weren't even born
when the world was nearly torn apart
by the great depression

It's just a story that their parents told
That has a bit more meaning
now that they're growing old
Living in this time of tragedy
Hoping that some miracle
will come along and set them free

Guards at every terminal,
try not to take it personal
When they check your bags
It's a matter of security,
we took for granted we were free
It's such a drag

Pledging our allegiance to a way of life
That's left the third world countries
in war torn strife
Who the Hell did we think we were
Preaching the fear of God
from the lazy boy, safe and secure

It's time to change the politics,
stop this game of pick up stix
and get a clue
Turn off that revolving door,
stop worrying about the score
and start anew

Polish up our faith in what is true
There is nothing more
that any one of us can do
A higher purpose for the sake of man
Must take hold of this world
and ring the bells of freedom cross the land
