BLISS OF IGNORANCE

I woke up dancing the other day
Like wings were on my feet
All the troubles of this world
I piled in my backseat
I know full well that they won't go away
But I want the bliss of ignorance today

My gas tank is empty and my fridge is looking bare
But I made today my holiday, I'm not going anywhere
I'm just gonna sit here and play the day away
Cause ignorance is bliss, that's how I feel today

The sky is full of sun and birds upon the wing
Flowers are in bloom at last here comes the spring
And I'm honored by these gifts that mother nature brings to me

So many days I just spent working life away
Money for the house and cars and the family
Now I sit here soaking up the sun
Full of the bliss of ignorance my life has just begun

A war on this a war on that the drama's lost all charm
And now I think our government is out to do us harm
The greater good's been lost among the greed
Maybe the bliss of ignorance will set this poor boy free

Prices rise as the dollar dies that's the headline news
All this homeland terror has given me the blues
Since politicians don't have the backbone to stand up for what's right
I'm taking the bliss of ignorance to bed with me tonight
