When I Was Young

Looking in the mirror at the lines of age
Calendar is calling me to turn another page
Autumn leaves are falling on the lawn
Summertime was here but now it's gone
Golden years upon me I never thought they'd come
No I never thought they'd come when I was young

Just around the corner old man winter hides
And I can feel the turning of the ocean tides
I can feel the cold setting in
Do my best to stay young within
This grand adventure I've been on
I could only imagine when I was young

Had my share of blessing through the years
Had my share of laughs, shed some tears
More than once I've come undone
I swore I never would when I was young

Looking at my grandson and wondering
If he'll have the strength to stay young within
I hope my messages ring true
How I am and what I do
Can't wait to see his first home run
Cause I still recall when I was young
