THERE'S
A CAT IN MY ZEN GARDEN
This
isn't the way I planned it
not what I had in mind
The street they built in my backyard
drowns out the rustling pines
Living in this city is taking it's own toll
Gotta get back to the countryside
to save this poor boys soul
Everything
around me
just seems crazy anymore
The world is striking out
while politicians keep the score
Diseases with no cause or cure
let's start another war
If you can con the other guy
what's a formal education for
I must
be getting older
I'm feeling less tolerant
of intelligent people acting stupid
and calling it corporate
Like the squirrel in my yard hogging all the nuts
and making the others wait
There's a cat in my Zen garden
and it's messing up the place
Sometimes
I feel like I'm all alone
and nobody else can see
The sacrilege around us
and what it's doing to you and me
I don't remember volunteering
to run in this rat race
There's a cat in my Zen garden
and it's messing up the place
There's
only one way that I can see
to bring this to an end
Do a bunch of frontal lobotomies
on our money grubbing corporate friends
Take away the money and power and the greed
take away the plastic face
Take away the cat in my Zen garden
messing up the place
