MAN IN
THE MOON
My
dog has got the ibbies and he's chewing at himself
A visit to the vet ka-ching, ka-ching
My kids are bellyaching cause there's nothing here to eat
Somehow I always find something
The shopper,
cook, the cleaner and the keeper of the books
Have I ever let this family down
Everytime a tidal wave comes crashing through my life
I kind of wish that I would drown
But I
get up and I do it all again
I won't let this world take me out too soon
It's time to lay this body down for my evening visit
with the man in the moon
There's
water in my basement from the fire hydrant
that wasn't disconnected from the main
puddles turning into ponds with waterfalls and streams
for several hours the place was just insane
They
loaded in the dryers and the dehumifiers
to see if they could save at least the walls
when a simple question could have saved the whole affair
Hey man, is this thing on?
But the
super told them everything was fine
take the back hoe yank up that old line
they used a map of sixty years with nary an update
and found the shut off far too late
My job
it doesn't give much satisfaction
it pays the monthly bills I must admit
The music in my soul is my attraction
but it don't pay enough to let me quit
The world
around me has given up the fight
against all those ugly tales of doom
and it's time to lay this body down for my evening visit
with the man in the moon
